How Stean Gorge is a natural wonder. This spectacular limestone ravine carved out over thousands of years by waterflow is the perfect base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. You can follow winding paths and explore caves by torchlight or admire breath-taking scenery whilst enjoying homemade meals and desserts.
You will find outdoor activities, wildlife watching, heritage and culture, fabulous food and shopping all a stones-throw from our camping site. There is plenty of space in the camp site area for playing games on the grassy slopes and having fun. At night, the moon and stars are your only light so please bring a torch!
Our Instructor-led outdoor activities take place in the gorge or nearby all year including abseiling, gorge walking, via ferrara - high wire adventure course, canoeing, caving and rock climbing. Large family sized hot showers, great food in the cafe and free wifi. Booking is essential.

Although there are a few campsites in Yorkshire none of them are able to offer the combination of a gorgeous, picturesque view of the Dales with our fantastic selection of outdoor activities and adventures. From Ripon take the B6265 to Pateley Bridge. After crossing the bridge turn right onto Lower Wath Road (Upper Nidderdale). After 8 miles you will enter the village of Lofthouse, continue to follow brown and white How Stean Gorge tourism signs.
